Roc Heights is such a unique boutique hotel! They really put effort into sustainability, unlike other places. And I loved that it's close to local amenities, especially the market. The staff are friendly and always ready to answer my endless questions.
Oh, there was just one tiny thing I didn't like. the breakfast was too basic for my refined tastes.

I absolutely adored the colonial-style rooms at the lodge, they were beautifully decorated and gave me a sense of luxury and comfort. The lounge areas downstairs were stunning, with cozy seating and a charming ambiance. It was perfect for relaxing and enjoying a cup of tea. The entire hotel had a homely feel, which made it very accessible for senior guests like myself. The staff were always there to assist me and ensured I had a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
The only thing I would have asked for is better accessibility for senior people. Although the staff were helpful, I found that some of the pathways and stairs were a bit challenging to navigate.

I chose Roc Heights Villa because it was conveniently located near Cape Point Beach, which I had been looking forward to visiting. To my surprise, the staff at Roc Heights were incredibly friendly and helpful, offering advice on the best places to visit in Bakau. I also enjoyed the fact that the hotel had an outdoor pool and a restaurant, making it a great place to relax and dine.
The only minor downside to my experience was that the whole of Gambia was quite quiet due to the Ebola scare, even though the country is Ebola-free. As a result, there was a constant pestering from fruit sellers, juice sellers, taxi drivers, and beggars, who were trying to make a living.

The hotel's decoration was charming, with beautiful gardens and peaceful surroundings. It was a joy to relax in such a serene environment. The general areas of the hotel were well-maintained and easily accessible for senior people like myself. The paths were clear, and there were plenty of comfortable seating areas where I could rest and enjoy the scenery.
I only wish there were more activities specifically catered towards senior guests. It would have been nice to have some organized outings or entertainment options that were tailored to our needs.

Roc Heights Villa was a great value for the money, with beautifully decorated colonial style rooms and all the necessary amenities. The location was peaceful and quiet, away from the main highway, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
Hotel breakfast could be improved with more variety and options available.

I had always wanted to visit Cape Point Beach, so I chose Roc Heights Villa for its ideal location. However, the friendly staff at the hotel pleasantly surprised me. They were available to offer advice on the best places to visit in Bakau, which I really appreciated. Additionally, I liked that Roc Heights Villa offered an outdoor pool and a restaurant, making my stay even more enjoyable.
Although breakfast is provided, it could be a bit more inventive. The lack of an onsite restaurant is a minus, and a small shop where essentials could be purchased would have been handy.

Great location and friendly staff. The hotel offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. It is situated away from the main tourist areas, but still within easy walking distance to restaurants and the beach. The staff, especially Omar, were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to assist us during our stay. The room was comfortable and the breakfast provided was sufficient. A torch is advisable for the sandy road leading to the hotel at night.
Limited drink options at the bar. Although there is a good bar and restaurant nearby, it would have been nice to have more variety at the hotel's own bar.

The guestrooms at Roc Heights Lodge offer everything you need for a comfy sleep - cozy beds, free WiFi, and refreshing air conditioning. Plus, the furnished balconies are a great spot to relax and enjoy pool or garden views. It feels like a perfect retreat for me!
Personally, I wasn't a fan of the bidet in the private bathroom. But hey, that's just me!

Personally, I found the bidet in the private bathroom to be unnecessary. But hey, that's just me!

I had a great stay at a cozy lodge with beautiful colonial style rooms. the rooms were comfortably appointed with a big washroom and a comfy bed. the lounge area had a kettle and a quiet fridge, and there was also a desk and good working WiFi. the breakfast was adequate and the staff were friendly and helpful. the location was quiet and less hassle, yet only a 5-minute walk to the beach and restaurants.
Lighting in the rooms could have been brighter.
